My Recent Lego Creations, Part 1

Here are some of my Lego creations that I have built:

The first photo is of something called "Tiny Turbo Town." The Tiny Turbo Town has a gas station, a fire station with a firetruck, a police station, an auto tuning shop, and a big bridge. It has about 20 Lego Tiny Turbo cars. I have been collecting these cars for the past 3 years.

The next photo is my most recent Lego creation, a T-Rex. It stands one foot tall and has several colors, as you can probably see in the photo. I like to scare my brothers with it!

The third photo is of a Star Wars creation I built. It is called "Rebel and Storm Trooper Battle." This is a scene from Episode IV of Star Wars, when storm troopers come onto the Rebel Blockade Runner trying to find the plans for the Death Star.

I have posted these on Lego's website in the "Cool Creations" section. If you go to Lego's website, click on "Play" at the home page, then click on the "Lego Club" folder. Then click on "Cool Creations". On this page there is a field where you can enter my Member Nickname, which is e3racing. This will bring up all the creations I have posted.

I will share more of my creations on my blog soon.

February 20 Lunar Eclipse

On February 20th, from 8:43pm until about 12:10 am there was a lunar eclipse. Between 10:00 and 10:52 it was a full eclipse. The rest of the time it was a partial eclipse. According to Sky and Telescope Magazine of Astronomy , this eclipse would be visible in all of Western Europe and the Americas.

My Mom told me about the eclipse. She printed an article about it and we planned to watch it. That evening after my Mom got my baby sister to sleep, we went outside to watch it. The first time we went outside was at about 8:45pm. The first picture is what I saw. We stayed outside only for about 5 minutes that time.

A while later we went outside again and went up to the golf course behind my house to watch it. This time we stayed outside for about 10 minutes. It was very cold so we did not want to stay out too long. By the second time, the moon was starting to get a dark red in color. We brought chairs to sit on and blankets to cover up with. We took two pictures with our camera.

The third time we went out we sat on the golf course for a while, then we returned to the backyard of my house to watch it. By then the moon was in full eclipse. This was after 10pm. We stayed outside until about 10:30. I took another picture while we were still up at the golf course. After 10:30 it was very cold and we were tired so we did not come back outside.
I really enjoyed watching the eclipse! I had never seen one before. The article I read in Sky and Telescope said the next total Lunar Eclipse
will be December 20 - 21, 2010. I know what I'll be doing that night!
These pictures are in the order that I saw the moon during the eclipse. The last photo was taken at just about full eclipse. The camera did not pick up the red color that we saw. You can just make out one sliver of the moon in this last photo.

2007 Season Summary

It has been a while since I have been here. I guess I'll start by telling you about last year's racing season.

I participated both in club races and in two state races. The name of the club I participated in is the Mid-State Microd Club, up in New York. I drove two different cars, an open wheel car and a microd. In my open wheel car I won all the club events I participated in, four or five races. In the microd I won one race (a very close call, by one or two inches!), most of the other events I finished second and once I did not finish. In the state races I raced at Sodus, New York, and Southern Tier Track. At Sodus in the microd I finished sixth, after starting in last place and in the open wheel car I was running up front. Then I got spun by another racer but the accident was blamed on me. So, I had to go to last place. Then when we restarted there was a wreck in front and I crashed into a car and broke the shock in my car. So, I finished in 11th place.

At Southern Tier, I only raced the open wheel car. Since an important event was coming up in a few weeks we decided not to run the microd car at Southern Tier to be sure the car would be alright. I started in sixth place then I tried to pass another racer. He did not know I was there so he ran into me and the shock in my car got damaged. The car was very hard to drive after that. Then another racer crashed into me and the shock got better! The car wasn't hard to drive any more. The racer who was my biggest competition in first place wrecked, after that point I was in third place. Then the second place racer got into a wreck for which he was blamed so he got sent to the back. Now I was in second place. I got a really good restart and came into first place. On the final lap though there was a caution and when we restarted I got passed and ended up finishing the race in second place. I was pretty happy with this result because state races are very competitive.

After that there was one more race. I won the open wheel race. I was doing well in the microd but the motor faded so I only got second place. After that the season was over.

Since then I have raced at an indoor track closer to where I live. It is a road course. I raced 10 or 11 races. I don't remember my placing in all of the races, but I know that I won one race and placed second in some of the other races.

Now my Dad and I are getting ready for the upcoming 2008 racing season. I'll try to keep this updated with my progress.

The first photo is of my microd car during the 2006 racing season. The second photo is of me in my open wheel car during the 2007 season.

My New Helmet

The new helmet that my Dad ordered arrived a few weeks ago in the mail. We sent it to get painted with my team logo. We picked it up this past Sunday. I like the way it looks very much. It has blue on the top, a yellow lightning bolt outlined in red, in the middle it is black, and there is a red line. Above and below this line are my logo and my name. There is some blue on the bottom and some red detail. This helmet will be getting a lot of use because I am going to be racing two cars. I hope it won't get scratched.

More About Me and F1 Commentary

I started racing microd cars last year, the spring and summer of 2006. My Dad had seen a microd car the previous summer when he was in a vintage sports car race up in Watkins Glen, New York. He looked up more about them online when he got back home and we decided that winter that I would race one the next season. We bought a car and I ran it in one event, but we had trouble with it so we bought another one. My Dad is going to fix the first car some day and one of my other 2 brothers will get to race it. We bought the second car from some go-karting friends. We raced that car six times. I didn't win the first 5 events, but I won the sixth race, The Hillcrest Cup race that I mentioned in my last post.

I watched the Formula One race yesterday. This week's race was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I was hoping that Kimi Raikkonen would win, so I was kind of disappointed that he didn't win. There weren't very many accidents or crashes in the race, this was good. One time I watched a race where it was raining and there were so many crashes that only two people ended up on the podium at the end! This was a few years ago, so I can't remember which race it was. I wish that Felipe Massa hadn't gone off the track in the first couple laps.

My Dad ordered me a new helmet this week. It's tight on me but that's the way it's supposed to be. My helmet last year fit more loosely. My Dad is wondering if I will even get use of the helmet for 2 seasons.

My Introduction

Hello, I am 9 years old and I am a big fan of auto racing. I started this blog so that I can talk about all the ways that I like cars. I'd like to know what you like about cars too.

I like playing with Hot Wheels and have been collecting them since I was 2 or 3 years old. I have been watching auto racing with my Dad since I was a baby, so my Mom tells me. I can remember watching races since I was about 3 or 4. My favorite type of racing is Formula One and my favorite F1 drive has been Michael Schumacher. I also like NASCAR. My favorite driver in NASCAR is Juan Pablo Montoya, who used to race in the Formula One series.

I started driving go-karts when I was seven. Last year, I raced in a series up in New York, the Mid-State Microd Club. "Microds" are actually "micro hotrods", which are similar to go-karts but they have more protection for the driver.

I had lots of fun racing there. At the end of the season was an event called "The Hillcrest Cup" I won that race, which was the only trophy event in that series. I came in last place in points for the season, but I was only able to race in 6 out of the 12 races. We live a 5 hour drive from where this takes place, so we cannot make it to all the races.

When I'm not racing I like to play with my Hot Wheels. I have more than 50 of them. I have them organized into groups according to what type of car they are.
